The Orang Asli are Malaysia's original inhabitants, forming an integral part of the nation’s cultural and historical identity. Although a minority, it is our collective responsibility to support their welfare and provide necessary assistance. The primary goal of our programs is to improve their living conditions while introducing aspects of Islam to encourage its adoption as a comprehensive way of life. To achieve this goal, COMRADE IIUM has implemented a variety of programmes, such as teaching them basic Islamic information and giving them access to mosques where they can learn more about Islam and its values.

Community Outreach for Orang Asli Development (COMRADE) is a club that is responsible for engaging IIUM students with Orang Asli in social projects in order to promote development in terms of infrastructure, mentality and spiritual enhancement for Orang Asli. It is meant to continue helping and maintaining the effort of delivering da’wah to the aborigine community as the main target. In order to serve the ummah better especially our main target group which is aboriginal community, COMRADE has been organising many programs that mainly focusing on the development of the aborigine community as their main objectives to provide education theoretically and practically to the villagers as well as to help in the development of the aboriginal community. This program's overarching purpose is to instil the Orang Asli with a sense of exposure to the religion while engaging with them in a fun way.

Last Ramadhan, COMRADE successfully conducted Enhance 1.0, which focused on improving the living conditions of the Orang Asli while introducing aspects of Islam to encourage its adoption as a way of life. Building on this foundation, Enhance 2.0 will serve as a continuation of these efforts. Organized as the first program under the new tenure of COMRADE for the 2024/2025 session, this initiative will further strengthen engagement with the Orang Asli community while fostering mutual learning and understanding. This upcoming Ramadhan, Enhance 2.0 will be held at KOA Teji, Abu, and Senangkar, located in Pos Telanok, Cameron Highlands, Pahang, bringing IIUM students and the Orang Asli together for meaningful interactions and shared growth.

KOA Teji, Abu, and Senangkar is located at Pos Telanok, Cameron Highlands, Pahang. The village consists of approximately 80 houses arranged in neat rows based on a predetermined layout. It features essential community facilities such as a community center, a surau, a takraw court, and Sekolah Kebangsaan Pos Telanok. The majority of the Orang Asli residents belong to the Semai ethnic group, speaking Bahasa Asli Semai as their primary language while also communicating in Bahasa Melayu with outsiders.

Enliven Ramadhan Through Community Engagement 2.0 (Enhance 2.0), will be held as the first program organized under the new tenure of COMRADE IIUM for the session 2024/2025. It is a continuation of Enhance 1.0, which was successfully conducted last Ramadhan. The previous program aimed to serve the Orang Asli community by addressing their basic needs, such as food, groceries, and clothing, and offering enriching skill classes and educational activities. This year, Enhance 2.0 builds upon the foundation set by its predecessor, aiming to strengthen ties and engagement with the community. The program focuses on providing indoor skill-building classes like cooking workshops to suit the villagers' preferences and fostering knowledge sharing that equips them with practical skills and experiences.

For the children, the program emphasizes the "3M" approach: Mentoring, Motivating, and Monitoring. Through extra classes, tuition, and creative learning activities, the initiative seeks to spark enthusiasm for education, instill a love for knowledge, and encourage the children to pursue their aspirations. Beyond the contributions to the community, Enhance 2.0 also serves as a valuable opportunity for Comrade’s mainboard and members to learn about the Orang Asli people and their way of life. This engagement will foster mutual understanding and provide firsthand insight into the unique culture and challenges faced by the community. By continuing this series of education and community discussions, Enhance 2.0 aims to create a lasting impact, enriching both the Orang Asli villagers and the participants from IIUM, while strengthening the spirit of collaboration and empathy.
