The Quranic Youth Club (QYC) of IIUM proudly presents the Global Interfaith Tour (GIFT) 5.0, themed “Peace is a Gift from Heaven”, as part of its long-term vision to promote interfaith engagement grounded in the values of the Qur’an and Sunnah. Inspired by the Quranic encouragement to travel and reflect (سيروا and انظروا), this initiative provides students with the opportunity to gain real-world experience by engaging with diverse religious communities beyond Malaysia. Japan, known for its cultural richness and religious pluralism, has been selected as the destination for this year’s tour. With a rising Muslim minority and a longstanding presence of Shintoism, Buddhism, and Christianity, Japan offers an ideal environment for meaningful interfaith learning and da’wah practice.

GIFT 5.0 aims to achieve six core objectives: (1) to develop participants with advanced knowledge and practical experience in conducting da’wah, (2) to explore and understand religions not commonly found in Malaysia, (3) to encourage deeper interfaith relations and engagement, (4) to share the beauty of Islam through factual, respectful dialogue while also promoting personal spiritual enrichment, (5) to address misconceptions about other religions by listening to their followers’ perspectives, and (6) to position QYC as a benchmark student organization in promoting interfaith understanding and enhancing da’wah efforts to non-Muslims. These goals are integrated into various activities such as Harmony Visits to places of worship, Interchange Idea dialogue sessions with Japanese Muslims, and Street Daʿwah initiatives in public spaces.

Through this immersive journey, participants will witness firsthand how people of different faiths coexist in harmony, particularly in a city like Osaka, which reflects both deep tradition and cultural openness. Japan’s unique religious flexibility—where individuals may engage with multiple spiritual practices—provides fertile ground for interfaith dialogue. The tour will not only help students develop critical communication skills and a deeper appreciation for religious diversity, but also equip them to represent Islam thoughtfully and confidently in global contexts. Ultimately, GIFT 5.0 is more than just a tour—it is a platform to inspire a new generation of youth to be proactive ambassadors of peace, tolerance, and Islamic values in an increasingly interconnected world.
