The progress of a nation is determined by its ability to innovate and integrate technological advancements in its development. As Malaysia celebrates its independence, it is crucial to equip future generations with knowledge and skills in robotics and mechatronics to drive the country forward. This program seeks to merge the spirit of independence with technological innovation, encouraging students to appreciate the role of robotics in Malaysia’s growth and independence.

COMRADE Club is one of the IIUM aborigine-based societies that focus on outreach, spreading da’wah, and social services in the aboriginal community. Aligned with our goals and missions to help develop and improve their lives, we have developed an annual programme called Genius Genesis (GG) that aims to inspire and empower students. This year, GG integrates robotics and national pride to foster both technical expertise and patriotism among participants.

The Merdeka Robotics: Technology Building the Nation initiative will expose students to hands-on activities in robotics while deepening their understanding of Malaysia’s independence journey. Through engaging challenges and interactive learning, participants will gain valuable skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership while appreciating the importance of national identity and technological progress.

This event will provide an opportunity for students to engage in hands-on activities, discussions, and challenges that combine the principles of robotics with the historical and cultural significance of independence. By merging these two elements, we aim to inspire a new generation of young innovators who are both patriotic and technologically skilled.

SMK Panggung Jaya, located in Gua Musang, is the first school dedicated to Orang Asli students in Kelantan. Established in 2020, the school provides education to up to 700 students, with dormitory facilities available for 400 students. As part of the effort to bridge the education gap for rural and indigenous communities, this school serves as a platform to introduce students to new learning opportunities and technological advancements.

Recognising the importance of empowering these students with future-ready skills, COMRADE Club has chosen SMK Panggung Jaya as the host for this year’s Genius Genesis programme. GG stands for Genius Genesis and it is an educational-based project that is conducted by the Mentoring and Module Bureau of COMRADE Club. This initiative aligns with the Madani policy introduced by the Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which emphasises knowledge acquisition, skills training, and innovation for rural communities.

This programme will act as a catalyst in shaping the educational journey of Orang Asli students, offering exposure to robotics and automation while reinforcing values of independence and national pride. By combining hands-on experience with interactive learning, students will gain insights into potential educational pathways, leadership skills, and the importance of teamwork. Additionally, this programme encourages spiritual growth, ensuring that students develop both intellectually and emotionally.
